The Axi 2826-08 motor is a great alternative to the Hacker motor for 4s with the ability to run 5s for more power but it's unavailable with a built in fan.
The Axi run on 5s runs hot so I decided to glue a fan on top from a
recommendation from another on rcgroups.com. I went to my local hobby shop
and searched for a high pitch "big hubbed" propeller and found a GWS orange
propeller (model number not available at this time) that fit the description. I then measured the
hub and found it was just slightly larger than 11/32 of an inch so I drilled
it out at 11/32 using a Uni-bit and it "snapped" on the hub. I used the
body of the motor as a template and laid a scribe against the body and
marked a line on each blade of the propeller. I removed it and cut the blade
using tin-snips. When it was close I reinstalled it on the hub and filled
the remaining bit to the scribed line.
I mixed up some 15 min epoxy and glued the prop to the hub making sure the epoxy didn't drip into the motor.
I did all my gluing with the hub side down so there was no chance of the glue dripping into the motor. After the glue had cured I installed the motor and spun the motor up in my swift, WITHOUT the pinion on and used a file to trim the propeller ends to make them perfect, kind of like a lathe. This mod probably dropped my motor temp 15 to 20 degrees, the Axi's run hot, I'm told, but mine is a reasonable temp now. But that's it, install the pinion and go fly it.
